Now blocking didn't hurt very much, did it?
I think "hosiery yarn" might just be a UK term for sock yarn--probably just fingering weight. I've only seen it in British & Australian patterns. I've also seen something called "vest wool" used for underwear. US stocking patterns ask for fingering weight.
